FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is the most popular way to send website files to a web hosting account. Using an FTP client program that is installed on your desktop or laptop PC, you can make a connection to your hosting server and copy all the files that you want with a couple of clicks of the mouse. You can do this using an easy-to-navigate graphical interface and it is as easy as dragging ‘n’ dropping the files in question. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is the fact that you’re able to set up separate accounts, each with a different level of access to your server space, so if you have to give somebody access, for instance – a web designer, they will be able to connect only to one specific directory and won’t be able to access the rest of your content or any other info, such as private details. Three must-haves are needed in order to be able to set up an FTP connection – a hostname, which is normally an IP address or a domain name, a user name and a password.
FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting
You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you want with any of the Linux shared hosting plans that we offer, as we’ve decided not to limit this functionality. In this way, you can have numerous sites at the same time or give other people access to different folders. As soon as a specific task has been accomplished and you wouldn’t like that person to be able to connect to your files anymore, you can update the password for the FTP account or you can simply delete the account with several clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about somebody connecting to it once more. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all shared web hosting packages, will allow you to view the complete list of the active FTP accounts displayed alphabetically. It takes just one click to manage different options for any of them – to update the password or the access path, to download an auto-config file, etc.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
Using our custom-developed Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, you will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you need, even multiple accounts with access to the exact same folder – if you would like different users to be able to access the very same web content with completely different login details. Our Linux semi-dedicated servers do not involve any limitation on the maximum number of the FTP accounts that you can manage at the same time, so you’ll be able to manage your website files and to modify your Internet sites without efforts. If you’d like to limit the access to your web content, you can change the folder that an account can access or you can remove the account entirely with no more than a few mouse clicks from the Control Panel. You’ll be able to view all the FTP accounts and to edit any of them, if needed. For the sake of convenience, you can also download an auto-config file for different FTP software programs. Furthermore, we have elaborate help articles and instructional videos, which will help you administer your FTP accounts without any hassles.
FTP Accounts in VPS Servers
None of the Linux VPS servers that we offer includes a restriction on the total number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any given time, so you can set up a separate FTP account for each site hosted on your server, regardless of whether it’s under a domain or subdomain. Furthermore, it does not matter which Control Panel you will choose when you order – cPanel, Hepsia or DirectAdmin, as an FTP server will be set up on your VPS during the installation of any of them. If you want different users to be able to make a connection to the exact same folder using their own set of login credentials, for example, it’ll take several clicks of the mouse to set up an FTP account for each of them. Deleting an active account or changing the directory that it can connect to is just as easy and you will not run into any difficulty, even if you do not have any past experience in such matters.
