Custom Error Pages
Get familiar with website error pages. Discover when they show up and why you should make your own custom error pages.
If you have looked at many sites, you have probably come across some error message once in a while. An error could occur if the hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you have to log in to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you aren't allowed to access a webpage (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file which is not on the website hosting server (Error 404). Getting such messages may often be annoying because the pages have nothing in common with the actual site. That’s why some web hosting providers allow you to set your own error pages that'll match the layout of your own site and that may have any content that you want - information why the error has occurred, a suggestion what you can do or even some humorous remark. This sort of feature can help you keep the visitor on the website whatever the error or the reason for it.

If you pick the abovementioned option, you have to type in the link to each and every page in your account, then save the change. The link or the type of page which shows up in case a user encounters an error can be modified whenever you want. In case you are more experienced, you may use an .htaccess file to set in-house developed error pages too, as opposed to using our integrated generator instrument, and in case you choose this option, the file has to be positioned inside the root directory of a specific domain or subdomain.
